Teaching Excellence Framework
Driving more adaptive & responsive teaching through AI-powered insightful, aggregated
feedback.
Overview & Objective
The Teaching Excellence Framework is an AI-enhanced digital tool that supercharges the U’s ability to drive widespread academic excellence. Its goal is to help faculty and administrators assess their impact and fine tune their approaches by centralizing and visualizing student course feedback, peer reviews, and instructor self-reflection in a single, advanced, intuitive interface.
Partners
This project is a close collaboration between the Office of Undergraduate Studies, the Spark Innovation Lab, and the CTLE (Center for Teaching Excellence).

Status & Next Steps
This initiative is currently being piloted, iterated, and refined.
Approach
The team initiated the project with rapid prototyping and experimentation to explore the types of visuals that could be produced from a large data set. After multiple rounds, the team discovered that tools from OpenAI could transform qualitative data into legible, succinct, and actionable insights.
Once a direction was found, the team developed a pilot that packaged Student Course Feedback data into a navigable structure, enhanced and interpreted by AI.
Details
The pilot program launched Fall of 2023. The team currently is continuing to refine the pilot and investigate further applications.
